Department of Sanskrit

A language related to the rich and glorious heritage of India, Sanskrit is relevant today because it remains the chief medium of unlocking the wisdom of our ancient thinkers. Besides acquainting its students with the social, cultural, and political values of ancient cultures the subject also enables them to appreciate ancient Indian History, Linguistics, Archaeology, etc. The Honors course lays special emphasis on interpreting ancient Vedic, better Upanishadic and classical literature for modern times. Graduates find employment in teaching, translation, civil services, apart from pursuing higher studies.
